Visa Checkout is a digital wallet that allows customers to store all of their major debit and credit cards in one account. With this single sign-in experience through Visa, customers can easily make purchases on your website or mobile app using any of the cards saved in their wallet.
Visa Checkout is currently available for merchants that are based in the following locations:
- Hong Kong
- United Kingdom*
- United States
*Enabling 3D Secure is required for merchants processing Visa Checkout transactions in the European Union. Learn more.

Customers can store the following card types in their Visa Checkout wallets:
- American Express
Transactions using Visa Checkout process and settle just like credit card transactions. You can identify Visa Checkout transactions in the Control Panel by their unique payment type logo, which includes the credit card brand name at the bottom.
There are no additional fees for processing Visa Checkout transactions – pricing for these transactions are the same as your other credit card transactions.
Chargebacks, retrievals, and pre-arbs on Visa Checkout transactions behave the same way as your credit card disputes, and should be responded to according to your merchant account setup. If you’re unsure how to handle a dispute, contact our Accounts team.
Visa Checkout transactions are compatible with our AVS and risk threshold Basic Fraud Tools, and our Advanced Fraud Tools. Visa does not save CVV values in Visa Checkout wallets, so CVV rules will be bypassed for these transactions.
3D Secure is required to process Visa Checkout transactions in any countries located within the European Union. Merchants located in the US, Australia, and Hong Kong can opt to enable 3D Secure.
