You can use the Braintree Control Panel to create transactions manually. Credit card transactions can be created either on new credit cards or on those already stored in the Vault. For other payment types (e.g. PayPal, Apple Pay), the payment method must be stored in the Vault via the API before you can create transactions with the payment method in the Control Panel.


When creating transactions, keep in mind that by default, you cannot settle the transaction for more than the authorized amount.

On a new credit card

  1. Log into the Control Panel
  2. Under Transactions, click New Transaction
  3. Enter all required values*
    • To keep this customer's information on file for future charges, check the box next to Store in Vault​
  4. Click Create

On an existing Vault record

  1. Log into the Control Panel
  2. Under Advanced Search, click Vault
  3. Locate your customer in the Vault
  4. Click Charge next to the customer
  5. Enter all required values*
  6. Click Create

*If you only wish to authorize an amount, uncheck the box next to Submit for Settlement. Authorizations will eventually expire; learn more about managing authorizations.
